How do you connect AgencyZoom to Claude?

Short answerYou connect AgencyZoom to Claude by installing the free AgencyZoom skill from WhereToBegin.ai, then giving it your AgencyZoom email and password the first time you use it. After that you type plain-English requests like "Does Linda Brooks have any policies with us?" or "Add Bob Smith as a new lead in the personal lines pipeline" and Claude reads or updates AgencyZoom for you. The login is stored on your computer only, and the skill always shows you a preview and waits for your approval before it writes anything.

What you'll learn

How to connect AgencyZoom to Claude, step by step

  1. Download the AgencyZoom skill. Get the skill free from this page. It arrives as a single skill file in your downloads folder. Nothing to install on your computer beyond Claude itself.
  2. Open the Skills menu in Claude. Open Claude on your computer or in your browser and click the toolbox icon, which is Customize. In the bottom left you will see a Skills button.
  3. Upload the skill. In the top right corner of the Skills menu click Add, choose Upload a skill, and drag the file over from your downloads folder. Click Add skill to confirm.
  4. Ask Claude something about AgencyZoom. Type a normal request, such as asking who your five most recent leads are. Claude recognizes it and picks up the AgencyZoom skill on its own.
  5. Enter your login as two separate messages. The first time, the skill asks for your AgencyZoom email and password. Send the email first, then the password as a second message. The login is stored on that computer only, and the values stay in that conversation.
  6. Confirm your defaults. The skill pulls your real pipelines, stages, lead sources and employees, then asks which ones new leads should use. It also warns you if the login you gave is not the account owner, because a non-owner login can make searches come back empty.
  7. Review before anything is written. Any request that changes AgencyZoom shows you a plain-English preview first and waits for your yes. Reads happen freely, writes never do.

What the AgencyZoom skill actually does

The skill is a free add-on for Claude that talks to your AgencyZoom account. Once it is connected you can look up where your leads are coming from, pull details about a lead or a customer, check what policies someone has, see which renewals are coming up, add notes, log calls, add new leads, and move people through different pipeline stages.

It is also useful as a source of clean data for other work. If you need to fill out an ACORD or a certificate of insurance, you can pull what AgencyZoom already knows about that client and work from that instead of retyping it. Everything runs by typing a normal sentence, not by learning a new interface.

Asking AgencyZoom questions in plain English

In the walkthrough Ben typed several questions as one long message: does Linda Brooks have any policies with us, where are my leads coming from broken down by source, who are my five most recent leads, and is John Doe already in our system. Claude answered all of them from AgencyZoom in a single pass.

For Linda Brooks it returned her customer number, email, phone, assigned agent, premium and effective dates, and flagged that the policy number was not on file rather than guessing at one. It also pointed out that her effective date and expiration date did not line up, which is the kind of data entry error that normally goes unnoticed. Every result carries a clickable link, so hitting Open link drops you straight onto that record inside AgencyZoom.

The lead source breakdown covered the last 12 months and hit its cap of 500 leads, which the skill said out loud rather than pretending it had swept the whole book. If you have more than that, you ask for the rest in a second request. The duplicate check is the other standout: asking whether John Doe was already in the system came back with 61 records across eight different email addresses.

Adding a lead without opening AgencyZoom

The second demo was a new lead, dictated rather than typed. The request was to add Bob Smith, who wants home and auto, has a 15 and a half year old son who will be getting his license in the next six to 12 months, note that, and put him in as new in the personal lines pipeline.

Claude asked which pipeline to use and pulled the real pipelines off the account to choose from. When Ben answered the lead source question with "Facebook lead," the skill checked the actual lead sources, found there was no Facebook lead but there was a Facebook, and used that instead. It will not invent a value that does not exist in your account. It then asked for Bob's email, because AgencyZoom will not create the lead without one.

Nothing was written until Ben approved it. The finished record landed in AgencyZoom with the note attached in full, including the follow up to add a young driver to the auto policy, and the account's own automation fired and sent its email. The speed argument is not that one lead is faster this way, it is that you can run several conversations at once in Cowork, hand Claude a batch of leads, point it at an email, or photograph a business card and say add this lead.

Where the limits are

The skill is deliberately careful. Reads run freely, but every write shows you a preview and waits, so it cannot clutter your AgencyZoom on its own. It refuses to choose between two records with similar names and asks you instead, and it says not on file rather than filling a gap with something plausible.

There are real gaps worth knowing before you start. There is no reporting or analytics endpoint, so it cannot tell you what the agency wrote this month as an accounting figure. It cannot create policies, because that needs an enterprise plan feature most agencies do not have. Tasks, service tickets, auto opportunities and email threads are not covered yet. Renewals are answerable but bounded, so it reports how much of the book it actually checked.

Frequently asked questions

Is my AgencyZoom password safe?
The login is stored on your computer only, and it is not sent anywhere else. The values you type also land in that conversation's history, so if your plan allows it, creating a separate AgencyZoom user just for this integration is the cleaner option.
Will it change things in AgencyZoom without asking?
No. Reading is free, but every change is two-phase. The skill shows you a plain-English preview of exactly what it is about to do and waits for your yes. If you say no, it stops. That applies to adding a customer, logging a note, and moving someone to a different pipeline stage.
What happens if the lead is already in our system?
It checks for duplicates across both leads and customers before it creates anything, and blocks the create if it finds a match. You then choose whether to update the existing record, skip it, or add it anyway. In the demo, asking about one name surfaced 61 existing records across eight email addresses.
Can it tell me how much the agency wrote this month?
Not as an accounting figure. AgencyZoom has no reporting or revenue endpoint, so the skill can count matching lead records for a period and will tell you that is what it is doing. It also cannot create policies, since that requires an enterprise plan feature most agencies do not have.
Do I need the Claude desktop app?
You can install the skill from Claude on your computer or in your browser, through the toolbox icon and the Skills menu. The demo runs in Cowork in the desktop app, which is what lets you run several AgencyZoom conversations side by side at the same time.
Is this an official AgencyZoom or Anthropic integration?
No. WhereToBegin.ai is not affiliated with Anthropic or with AgencyZoom. This is a skill built for insurance professionals that uses your own AgencyZoom login and the AgencyZoom API, and it is free to download and use.
